Getting ready to leave - He Said

Santiago Bound...   

Our flight departs on Monday (December 29, 2014) afternoon from Vancouver. We first fly to Mexico city and then after a 2 hour layover, continue on to Bogota, Colombia.  In Bogota we get a long 7 hour layover which will give us a small chance to experience the city.  Then back to the airport for the final 5 hour leg of our journey to Santiago.  We will arrive at 11pm so it will be straight to the hotel and  sleep!  Total journey time is about 29 hours. That is the one sucky part about using travel rewards for flights.  

   All packed and ready to go... we found a pair of awesome hiker's backpacks at Atmosphere Sports and have loaded them up with all we need for the trip, including our camping gear (hotels can be costly in the tourist areas of Chile, and camping can be fun!)  The plan is to use a rental car for about 10 days and explore a little more of Southern Chile, as well as spending a few days in Santiago, including New Years.


   Will update this in a few days, once the trip has commenced. We haven't quite decided what we are going to do yet.   We might do a "He said/She said" type of blog.  That might work out well because Carolyn can be a much better writer than me, just disregard run on or fractured sentences (he said).  We also might try adding some video to it.
